LIVE......and sweaty |
"4(out of 5) Having watched this particular band swell into
the colossus they have become over the past few years, I was quite
pleased to find that general goonfuerher Neil P. had decided to
put out a live record with all the chaos and banter that embodies
a live DTB performance. Problem with this band is that so many
don\'t get the joke, or naturally assume they are some sugar-coatred
pop phenomenon. And without a clear picture of the madness Mr.
P exudes through his endlessly babbling charisma, one never gets
a clear portrait. Live and Sweaty clears up any confusion once
and for all with a full length free DVD that come swith this release.
Let me tell you folks, the entertainment value is just as high
as the quality of the music. Totally spastic, DTB are somewhere
between Frank Zappa, Dead Kennedys, Sublime, Tenacious D, The Dwarves
and Manowar (in spirit and cheese at least). Songs about artificial
tanning, tight pants indie rockers, bad charlotte poop punk, alcoholism,
corpse paint, neo-barbarian warriors and Lorenzo Lamas spew forth.
I\'ve seen them all, every damn tour you can imagine. But when
this band is at the peak of their prowess, when fully engulfed
in the lunacy of the DTB mission statement, few compare. Too zany
for the metal crowd, too metal for the punk nation, too soft for
the hardcore, too tech for the meatheaded, too evil for the indie,
too experimental for the classic, too lo-fi for the industrialists,
too offensive for the humorless, too raw for the low-decibel, too
fast for the doom and too slow for the extreme, DTB promises maximum
alienation for all. One day this band will be huge."
